Dr. Areshkumar’s academic achievements are as diverse as the species he treats. After completing his Bachelor’s in Veterinary Science from Madras Veterinary College, he went on to earn his Master’s in Veterinary Medicine from Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary Education and Research (RIVER), Puducherry.
But his thirst for learning didn’t stop there. He pursued specialised diplomas in Animal Welfare and Orthopaedics, and even a Master’s in Psychology, blending clinical precision with empathy and understanding.
From Research Labs to Rescue Rooms
Before becoming one of Chennai’s most respected veterinary consultants, Dr. Areshkumar worked at some of India’s leading veterinary research centres, including TANUVAS’s Canine Research Centre and Network, where he helped develop diagnostic tools and conducted cutting-edge studies on canine diseases.
As a research associate, scientist, and clinician, he’s authored numerous papers in international journals, written popular veterinary handbooks like The V-Guide and Handbook on Canine Cardiology, and presented his work at national and international veterinary conferences.
His scientific grounding gives him an edge few vets can claim - a deep understanding of the “why” behind every symptom, every sound, and every heartbeat.

Where most veterinarians stop at cats and dogs, Dr. Areshkumar’s expertise stretches far beyond and into the world of avian and exotic medicine.
A proud member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV), USA, he has years of experience treating parrots, cockatoos, iguanas, turtles, rabbits, guinea pigs, and other unique companions.
